Grading and Math Standards
Homework
Homework is assigned regularly and vital for a student’s learning. My expectation is that homework is finished by the next class period; unless a different due date is given. At the next class period, we will grade and review homework.
Assessments
Quizzes are given regularly. Unit tests are given at the completion each unit. Students will have advanced notice of unit test and will have access to a study guide or review packet. Students will also have semester finals as a way to assess their knowledge.
Late work is only accepted until the end of the unit! Students are responsible for making up their assignments; Mrs. Jones is not responsible of tracking down each student to remind them of their missing work. Scholars are asked to grade assignments on their time, like seminar, not during lessons. This work will be marked with an “M” for “Missing” in the gradebook, and will count as a zero until turned in and graded. Late work must be turned in by the unit test or it will remain a zero.
Missing Assessments
Students who miss an assessment due to being absent will take the assessment the day they return UNLESS they decided to take it early or make other arrangements and schedule a plan of action with Mrs. Jones. Assessments can be taken early if plans are made with Mrs. Jones.
Grades
The grades will consist of the following items.
Pre-Algebra
Homework, Classwork, Quizzes, Projects, Activities = 50%
Unit Tests = 50%
Algebra
Homework, Classwork, Quizzes, Projects, Activities = 40%
Unit Tests = 60%
Grading Policy
Grades will be rounded using traditional rounding procedures and a traditional scale.
